Internet Banking
The Internet has made managing your bank account easy, internet banking saves time and money.
Most banks and building society offer Internet banking to some degree, this can range from simply
checking your balance to full account management.
With full account management you can pay your bills online, set up standing orders, check your balance, and
transfer funds between accounts. The Egg Money Manager account allows you to view your Egg accounts and any other
accounts not with Egg online.
Helpful Tips
- Watch your payment amounts: Most internet banking systems have a maximum payment amount ranging from £5000 to £30000, if you need
to make a payment above your set limit you will have to use a more traditional approach.
- Security: Always keep your password secret, bank staff should never ask you for your full password.
- Phishing: Treat requests via email to update your account details as suspect. Banks rarely contact you via
email asking you to log into your account. Phishing is a recent attempt by some to fraudently determine your account passwords and then
log into your account and drain your funds. Generally keeping your wits about you and ensuring that you only enter your password into the
genuine bank website (not one that looks like it!) should keep your details aware from the Phishers. If in doubt contact your bank immediately.
